YMCA Katherine can now offer free period products to those in need thanks to collaboration with NT Power and Water.
We have been able to increase our ability to help those in the community of Katherine experiencing period poverty by installing a Dignity Vending Machine at YMCA Katherine, thanks to our collaboration with NT Power and Water.
Our Dignity Vending Machines dispense free period packs at the push of a button and were created because our Founder, Rochelle, wanted a way for people who are doing it tough to access free period products, without the anxiety and shame many feel when asking someone else for help.
YMCA Katherine received this important machine due to their work with vulnerable women, girls and those who menstruate. When someone is doing it tough, the last thing on their mind should be dealing with their period.
We are delighted that due to the generosity of NT Power and Water, we can help those experiencing period poverty in this community, and also help break down the shame and stigma associated with menstruation.
Power and Water are passionate about making a difference to the lives of Territorians and we are so proud of this partnership that is helping to Share the Dignity. Part of our partnership with Power and Water will also see us soon facilitating yarning circles to help us continue to build on our Indigenous Menstrual Health Program and an education program to help remove the shame and stigmas around menstruation.
