The Bloody Big Survey
Share the Dignity is on a mission to end the shame and stigma that surrounds periods because if we can't comfortably talk about periods, we can't address period poverty.
We need to accurately understand the shame people who menstruate experience and how it can impact their lives.
In 2024 we will be conducting another Bloody Big Survey to see if attitudes or experiences have changed over the last 3 years. The survey will be open from March to May 2024 and we would love to have your school involved to help encourage respondents.
Creating Period Pride
We want schools and community groups to smash the shame and stigma surrounding periods through education and creativity to drive discovery and learning, awareness of stigmas, encourage empathy and be part of the solution.
We are asking young Australians in schools and community groups to create ‘Period Pride Media’ to inspire, entertain, and get people talking about periods!
The competition for 2023 has ended, but keep an eye out for the new competition launching early 2024.
Period Talk
Share the Dignity realised whilst it was important to help end period poverty, it was important to provide education around menstrual literacy. That's why we have teamed up with Talk Revolution to create Period Talk.
Period Talk is a fully comprehensive, fun, engaging and informative menstruation specific education program aimed at boys and girls in years 5-8.
A complete stand-alone teaching package to be taught over four weeks, presented by kids for kids.
DONATE
Dignity Drives
Your school can get involved in our Dignity Drive’s that run twice a year in March and August.
You can get involved by register your school to be a collection point ot by donation period products directly to your local Woolworths store.
By donating period products you will ensure women, girls and those who menstruate who are experiencing or at risk of domestic violence, homelessness or poverty have access to period products when they need them.
We accept all products in original packaging, including pads, tampons, reusable pads, period undies, menstrual cups and incontinence products.
It's in the Bag Packing Party
It’s in the Bag can be a great way to get your school community together. It’s in the Bag is one of Australia’s most loved Christmas appeals, where we encourage everyday Australians to put together Adult, Teen or Mum and Bub bags filled with essential items, and maybe some everyday luxuries and a handwritten note, to donate to someone in need for Christmas.
Your school can arrange to Host Your Own Packing Party or collect donations to drop at any Bunnings nationwide. Keep an eye out for 2024 collection point dates.

Sock Fundraiser
Our socks are for sale in our shop and have been designed to start important conversations around the issue of period poverty, and how we can work together to achieve menstrual equity.
All profits from the purchase of socks or raised from hosting a sock day will go directly towards our mission to end period poverty.
Once you register your school’s Sock Fundraiser you will receive a link to all the assets available.
Dignity Vending Machines
At Share the Dignity, we are passionate about empowering and supporting people to live a life of dignity and safety. To ensure those who are most vulnerable have access to pads and tampons, we will continue installing Dignity Vending Machines in public toilets, charities, homeless hubs, domestic violence refuges, community centres, hospitals and schools in low socio-economic areas across Australia. We are also installing machines in Aboriginal Health Services that are continually working on improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ menstrual health.
The Queensland Government shares our passion to foster positive educational outcomes and alleviate emotional distress for students in need, by allowing them to focus on their education rather than on accessing supplies to manage their period. The Share the Dignity in Queensland schools initiative is proudly sponsored by the Queensland Government to help end period poverty.
The Dignity Vending Machine is a world-first innovation that dispenses a free period pack, with six tampons and two pads, at the push of a button. Share the Dignity purchase and supply the specially made #PeriodPacks in the Dignity Vending Machines. Each Dignity Vending Machine is programmed with a delivery delay of 3 minutes to ensure no period packs are wasted.
Why your school's support is important
respondents sometimes don't swim due to their period.
were sometimes less able to pay attention in class with periods.
of respondents at least sometimes miss a class due to their period.
We realised whilst it was important to help end period poverty, it was important to provide education around menstrual literacy. If we can't comfortably talk about periods, we can't address period poverty.
We want schools and community groups to break the shame and stigma through education and creativity to drive discovery and learning, awareness of stigmas, encourage empathy and be part of the solution.
In 2022 we launched our Period Pride survey in collaboration with Facebook and Swinburn University to understand what Period Poverty looked like here in Australia. We had had over 125,000 respondents, becoming the largest data collection in the world on menstruation.
By supporting Share the Dignity, your school will be helping to ensure that everyone is afforded the dignity in life that so many of us take for granted.
Since 2015 we have been able to support millions of women, girls and those who menstruate.
You can help us ensure that this work continues and that no women, girl or person who menstruates ever has to face their period without dignity.
