The Eco Period Club is about empowerment. It's about taking control of your period and your impact on the environment. We're not just giving away products – we're starting a movement.

Our Bloody Big Survey found 72% of teens have missed sport because of their period with the majority due to a fear of leaking. The great thing about reusable period products is they can be gamechanger to control leakage.

As reusable period products are often shared by word of mouth, we will not only give you tips and tricks for your new product, we will also encourage you and help you share your experience with your friends.

72% of teens have missed sport because of their period
Let's talk about period poverty

For many teens, getting period products can be a real struggle. In fact, our 2024 Bloody Big Survey showed that 68% of Australian teens struggled to afford period products. Our survey also found that the number of uni students experiencing period poverty was on the rise! By equipping teens with reusable period products now we can ensure no one misses out on an education due to their period.

All of your questions answered!

add remove

By registering for the Eco Period Club, you’re part of a growing movement of legends who are reducing waste and breaking period stigma. After registering we will send you a link to join our Facebook community where we will share tips and tricks and you can meet other amazing teens embracing a sustainable period!

Will I get to meet or chat with other club members?

add remove

After registering we will send you the link to our Eco Period Club community group on Facebook! This is a private group only for the club and you will be able to either make posts or comment on posts. We understand social media laws mean some teens won’t be able to join so we will also contact you via other methods to keep you in the loop.

Do I have to do anything once I get my products?

add remove

First point of call is to just give your new product a go!  We will provide you with tips and tricks to help you use and care for your new period product properly. Aside from that we ask you to keep engaged for the next 12 months via our Facebook community group (if you have Facebook) and to take two surveys over the next 12 months.

I'm outside of Australia can I join?

add remove

Unfortunately not. The Eco Period Club is by Share the Dignity (an Australian charity) so is specifically targeting Aussie teens.

How will I receive my products?

add remove

Straight to your door! Please note this might take up to 28 days as we are powered by our incredible volunteers.

Do I have to pay for postage?

add remove

Nope! Not a cent. We want to ensure that any teen who wants to get involved can, regardless of income.

How do I wash my reusable period products?

add remove

Easy peasy! Each product has its own simple cleaning routine that should be on the packaging. We will also share some advice after you register for the club. Look after them and they’ll last you ages!

Can my whole school class/sports team sign up?

add remove

Absolutely! As long as everyone is aged 13-19, they can sign up individually and get their own free product. So why not get your whole squad involved and make a sustainable switch together?

Why is this only for 13-19 year olds?

add remove

A few reasons:

  • We’re all about empowering teens and young adults to make the switch to sustainable period products early on! Reusable period product recommendations are often spread by word of mouth so by providing teens with reusable period products and education we can increase awareness around these products.
  • We want to keep Aussie teens in sport! Our Bloody Big Survey found 72% of Aussie teens missed sport due to their period (58% due to a fear of leaking) and reusable period products can be a gamechanger for controlling leaking.
  • Our survey also found the number of uni students experiencing period poverty was on the rise so we want to increase reusable period product education and access for Aussie teens.
  • Lastly, and very importantly, some of the period products that have been generously provided are specific to certain ages.

How many free period products are you giving away?

add remove

We have been generously provided with the following items:

  • 5,000 period underwear packs between sizes 6-14 from U By Kotex (each pack will have three period undies)
  • 5,000 size 0 menstrual cups from Diva Cup
  • 1,000 menstrual discs from Hey Zomi

That’s 11,000 Aussie teens we will be helping to make the switch! However, we can guarantee these won’t last forever so if you’re interested register ASAP before they are all snapped up!

Does using a menstrual cup or disc hurt?

add remove

Ordinarily no! It might take a little practice (just like tampons), but once you get the hang of it, you won’t even feel it’s there. Just follow the instructions with your product. If after some practice you are still having trouble or have pain inserting please reach out to a health professional.

What if I pick a product and don’t like it?

add remove

Trying something new can feel weird at first, but give yourself time to adjust! If one product isn’t for you, that’s totally okay - period product choice is personal, and finding what works best for you is what matters most.

Do I need special soap to wash my reusable products?

add remove

Nope! A gentle, fragrance-free soap and warm water will do the trick. For cups/discs, boiling them between cycles keeps them fresh and clean! We will give you tips and tricks for this in the Eco Period Club community group!

Can teachers or school nurses request products for students?

add remove

Right now, the program is for individuals to sign up themselves, but schools can absolutely encourage students to apply. If you’re a teacher or youth worker keen to support students, reach out to us for more info!

How much waste does a reusable product actually save?

add remove

A lot! One menstrual cup, menstrual disc or pair of period undies can replace thousands of disposable pads and tampons over its lifetime. That’s a HUGE win for the planet!

What if I’ve never used a reusable period product before?

add remove

No worries! Everyone starts somewhere. We will be sharing easy-to-follow guides and plenty of tips to help you feel confident with your new product.

You don’t have my period underwear size?

add remove

We are so sorry we don’t have your size! Due to the reusable period products being so generously donated we only have limited sizes available.

What size are the menstrual cups and discs?

add remove

The menstrual cups are a Diva Cup size 0 and are designed for those who are new to periods and aged between 13 and 19. The menstrual discs are by Hey Zomi and are one size fits most.

What do I have to do in return?

add remove

In return we just ask that you stay engaged for the next 12 months! If you have Facebook, join our closed Facebook community group where we will share tips, tricks and info on reusable period products; you will be able to ask questions and interact with other teens trying reusable period products! If you don’t have Facebook we will stay connected over email and share info that way! We also ask that you complete 2 surveys over the next 12 months.

We are so sorry to hear that. We work with over 3000 charities to get period products into the hands of those who need them. We would recommend finding your local charity here. You can also find the locations of our Dignity Vending Machines which dispense free period packs here.
