Period poverty is real in Australia. Whether it not having access to sanitary disposal options at work or not being able to afford basic sanitary items.
The Electrical Trades Union's #NoWheretoGo Campaign has taught us that unless we talk about these sometimes uncomfortable and awkward conversations, nothing will ever change for women. And some of the real issues faced by women at work, particularly apprentices who are often paid below normal minimum wages- has been heart-wrenching. We need to do better for all women.
Menstruation affects 51% of Australians at some stage in their life and safe, accessible, affordable options are basic health and safety rights.
All funds raised from our event will help provide free period products to those in need and give them the dignity they deserve when dealing with their periods.
Any support you can give towards our fundraiser will go a long way, making a huge, life-changing difference to the lives of many.
About Share the Dignity
Share the Dignity works to make a real, on the ground difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence, or doing it tough. They distribute period products to those in need and work to end period poverty here in Australia. When someone is doing it tough, the last thing on their mind should be dealing with their period.
