Give hope and dignity to a woman or girl spending Christmas in a domestic violence refuge or homelessness shelter.
It’s in the Bag is Share the Dignity’s annual campaign where we encourage everyday Australians to fill a bag (Adult, Teen, or Mum & Bub) with essential items, pop in a simple handwritten ‘Dear Her’ note, and donate their bags at a local Bunnings. For those willing and able to go above and beyond, we encourage the addition of an extra special touch.
Each donation is personally collected, sorted, tagged and logged by our generous volunteers, before they are transported to our trusty network of charity partner organisations who gift the donations to women and girls waking up in domestic violence shelters or homelessness refuges on Christmas Day.
Collections points for 2026 will be open at every Bunnings Warehouse nationwide from 6 – 22 November 2026.
We’d love for you to help us spread the message of #ItsintheBag and we’ve tried to make it as simple as possible by preparing you with a social media toolkit.
How do you donate bags?

Find a new or pre-loved bag in good condition.

Fill the bag with essential items – shampoo, conditioner, roll-on deodorant, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste and period products. If you can, pop in a thoughtful extra or two.

Add a little kindness to your It’s in the Bag donation with a Dear Her card. Write a message of encouragement to a woman you’ll never meet.

Tell your followers about It’s in the Bag, using our social handles and hashtags.

Take your bag to your closest Bunnings Warehouse store between 6-22 November 2026.

Short Version
This Christmas, I’m proud to support Share the Dignity’s It’s in the Bag campaign.
The campaign encourages Australians to fill a handbag with essential everyday items for women and girls experiencing hardship, homelessness or domestic violence.
Every donated bag, dropped off at a Bunnings collection point between November 6-22, reminds someone they are valued and supported. Together, we can help make Christmas a little brighter.
Long Version
Christmas is a time for kindness, generosity and community.
That’s why I’m proud to support Share the Dignity’s It’s in the Bag campaign.
Every year, thousands of Australians donate handbags filled with essential items including toiletries, period products and everyday necessities. These bags are dropped off at Bunnings between November 6-22, then distributed to local women and girls spending Christmas in domestic violence refuges, experiencing homelessness or extreme poverty.
While the contents of each bag are practical, the impact goes much deeper. Every donation tells someone they are seen, valued and deserving of dignity.
I encourage everyone across our electorate to consider packing a bag this Christmas. Whether you’re donating as an individual, family, workplace or school, every contribution helps.
Together, we can make sure more Australians experience kindness this festive season.

Who your donation helps
Every single It’s in the Bag donation has the potential to change someone’s life.
For Lenna, an It’s in the Bag donation arrived at the right time to give her some love as she fought through a traumatic time.
Hear directly from Lenna about how your bag has the power to give someone fleeing domestic violence, experiencing homelessness or doing it tough, a little bit of love, a little bit of hope, and the dignity they deserve.
